A Night of Discovery: ReadyRosie Family Science Night at the Aquarium of the Pacific

Our Mayor’s Fund for Long Beach team poses with our booth. We’re incredibly delighted and thankful for the opportunity to once again co-host this event alongside the Aquarium of the Pacific.

The Mayor’s Fund for Long Beach is pleased to have once again partnered with the Aquarium of the Pacific for an evening of discovery and learning during our February 8th Family Science Night. The event was expected to bring together around 900 families, children, and individuals from across Long Beach for an evening highlighting the beauty and mystery of marine life, while also providing a fun, engaging, and educational experience for our city’s children and families alike.

The Mayor’s Fund team was excited to showcase our ReadyRosie program and demonstrate how the program empowers families and caregivers with tools and activities to support children's early learning and development. ReadyRosie is an educational platform that offers families/caregivers videos and other resources to support early learning and development and is a key part of our commitment to enhancing early childhood education.

The event also featured esteemed local and regional organizations, such as the Los Angeles Natural History Museum, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), as well the students from Lakewood High School Odyssey Pathway, Sowing Seeds of Change Urban Garden, the Bagel Bytes ROV Club from Culver City High School, as well as many others! The evening was filled with interactive games, prizes, and activities designed not just for entertainment, but to also spark an interest in learning and exploration.

We're incredibly grateful for our partnership with the Aquarium of the Pacific as it truly takes a village to create such meaningful and enriching experiences! Each Family Science Night is a culmination of our collaborative effort to expand quality STEM learning in early learning spaces and also includes cohorts of 20-30 early learning educators receiving training on effective strategies for incorporating foundational STEM concepts into daily classroom activities.

As co-hosts, we were delighted to see the community's positive response and enthusiasm and we look forward to further collaboration where we can create more opportunities for education and engagement. Events like Family Science Night are a testament to what we can achieve together.
